Especially in the summer, watching the sun rise or enjoying a peaceful morning outside while sipping on a coffee roasted with care from Anthony's Small Batch Roasters is as close to heaven on Earth as we can get in Southern Maine. There’s something about early, summer hours when the air is still cool, the sky flashes beautiful shades of color as it becomes lighter, the birds are singing, and most of the world is still asleep. Moments like this allow us to reflect and truly appreciate the little things. In Maine, the ocean always feels calmer (unless there's a storm) at this time of day, and the feeling of tranquility it brings is truly special when we take the time out of our busy schedules to sit back and enjoy it.
At ASBR, we do our best to enhance these experiences in a meaningful, authentic way. Observing the natural beauty of Southern Maine while enjoying our locally roasted coffee turns these moments into something even more memorable and special — an experience that's truly Maine for both your sight and your taste buds. As we find ourselves in the full swing of Summer, we thought we'd share with you our 3 personal picks for the best views and vibes in the morning to complement the Southern Maine that's in your cup when you make a stop at Anthony's before enjoying the wonder that York has to offer.
1. The Wiggly Bridge

The Wiggly Bridge is a scenic, peaceful landmark parallel to the York River. It presents one of the most wide open water views and offers access to various trails for those looking for a morning stroll. Tucked away just off the main paths, it’s a quiet wooden footbridge that gently sways as you cross—hence the name Wiggly! The bridge is beloved by older and younger folks alike, but it's narrow so make sure to look to the other side before you cross! In the early morning, it feels especially peaceful. The water below flows from a pond on one side to the York River on the other. There’s a calm stillness to the river and the woods at the end of the bridge that makes you slow your pace or stop to sit without even thinking about it. It’s the kind of place where a simple walk becomes a moment of pause.
With a hot or iced coffee in hand, the experience becomes even more complete. As energy slowly builds, the Wiggly Bridge feels like the perfect place to ease into motion. Being fully present in the moment grounds you perfectly to set your day up right—especially with a cup full of an ASBR roast to offer a lift of happiness.
2. Harley Mason Park (Above Harbor Beach)

Harley Mason Park, perched just above Harbor Beach, is a quiet overlook where York’s coastline opens up. Visitors can sit on a blanket on the grassy area or find one of the benches to take in the beautiful view in front of them. Complete with the rocky ledges Maine is known for, hours can easily be spent watching the ocean from this spot, as well as the boats that go in and out of the York River. With the wide open view of the Atlantic, this spot is excellent for watching the sunrise if you know in advance that the sky will be totally clear, allowing the ocean to reflect the beautiful colors of the sky. In the park, the sound of waves carries up from Harbor Beach below, and the breeze moves steadily off the water. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down to take everything in, whether you planned to or not.
This, paired with the opportunity to enjoy your coffee makes time move even slower which makes the moment even more meaningful. Truly, this is one of the best places to start your day on a high note. Combined with the deep, strong flavor of an Anthony's coffee, it really can't get much better.
3. Nubble Lighthouse
Although we'd be hard pressed to find someone who isn't familiar with Nubble Lighthouse, we couldn't not include this iconic spot. It's truly a place where the rugged beauty of Maine meets a timeless, awe inspiring landmark. Perched just off the rocky shoreline, it feels both powerful and peaceful at the same time — just like a strong cup of coffee in the morning. The lighthouse is especially striking during periods of the day during light and color changes in the sky, making it an excellent morning destination. The light begins to soften across the water, the waves break gently against the rocks, and the lighthouse sits in silence with the open sky as a contrasting backdrop. It’s a view that doesn’t need much else—just a clear mind to be still and calmly take it in.
Stopping to enjoy your coffee here turns the experience into more than just an opportunity to grab some great photos. It turns the moment into a memory, and offers those who are present to connect to something bigger. No matter what the weather is, this is certainly a spot that allows you to slow down, take it all in, and appreciate where you are.
