On Tap Down The Road: Coffee and Collaboration

There's a version of our coffee you can't get at the café in Anthony's Food Shop - but that's okay, because you probably wouldn't want to drink it in the morning, anyway. Or, maybe you would - but regardless, you can find it by paying our friends at York Beach Beer Company a visit!

Steps away from Short Sands Beach, you can find Anthony's Small Batch Roasters coffee as the base of a delicious espresso martini, poured straight from the tap. The drink sees coffee, Kahlúa, and vodka brewed on nitro, so when it's poured into the glass it settles with a soft, creamy top that gives it quite the aesthetically pleasing look not unlike beer froth. Teaming up with local brewing experts, we've helped to create a drink that has a sweet, earthy flavor like no other drink out there. Together, ASBR and York Beach Beer Company have taken a classic and made it one of a kind.

Why Nitro Makes The Difference

A traditional espresso martini gets its foam from shaking. This one doesn't need it. Nitrogen pushes the cocktail through the tap in tiny bubbles, which is what gives it that velvety texture and the pale, sturdy foam that sits on top instead of fizzing away. The result is smoother and rounder than a shaken version, and the coffee flavor comes through clearly rather than getting lost behind the sweetness. As coffee roasters and lovers, that's a requirement for us.

Two Local Businesses, One Glass

At Anthony's, we take pride in being local to York, Maine. After all, community is only as strong as the people and businesses who tie it all together. The first best part about teaming up with YBBC is the of course the amazing espresso martini - but the fact that we get to work together is a close second. This is a small town. Most of the businesses aren't more than a few minutes from each other, and the best things people in this town create tend to be done so through collaborative partnerships.

For Anthony's Small Batch Roasters, roasting our own small batch coffee in York and then serving it in our in-store café is absolutely amazing, but having it end up on tap only few miles away as an integral part of another local business is a dream come true. We aim to be true to our Southern Maine roots, from start to finish - and working with other local businesses is a major factor in how we're able to do it.
